„I am more than convinced that the GYROTONIC® system has advantage over any other conventional and known methods of treatment – first and foremost when applied by an experienced person“.

„The GYROTONIC® system system represents a useful tool in many regards because it operates at the point of intersection of functional training, art, science and therapy“.
Dr. Christian Larsen

„Anyone who dedicates themselves to a sport, a dance or any other activity that requires motion can benefit from this method to rediscover one’s own agility. Being aware of one’s own body and abilities is the first step towards recognising one’s individuality, strenghtening one’s  self-belief and preventing the risk of becoming alienated, which nowadays we are confronted with dailily“.

Exercise meeting any standard

Gyrotonic® is an optimal exercise program that meets any standard: Professional athletes receive performance-enhancing support, those interested in fitness discover a new broad way of practice, less active persons get a charge out of movement, rehabilitation patients train movement with consideration and burnout patients can recharge their batteries.

Everybody can benefit from the Gyrotonic Expansion System® :

The earlier the more preventive,
the later the more therapeuticr.

It is by closed, three-dimensional motion sequences that strength, coordination and agility are exercised simultanesously. Gyrotonic® paves a unique way for new standards of motion exercise, considering aspects of health, aesthetics and improvement in performance equally.

The Gyrotonic Expansion System® is a holistic motion concept regarding the human body as a unit with the spine as its mainstay. It combines thousands-of-years old knowledge from the Far East with modern motion teaching. In contrast to common forms of exercise which address the locomotor system in a two-dimensional, isolated way, the variety of exercises offered by the system act in three dimensions.

Instead of moving individual muscles or muscle groups, Gyrotonic® endorses complex motion sequences combined with rhythmic respiration, aiming at both stretching and stabilisation.

Motion sequences

By training complete chains of muscles it is especially the interaction of the muscles that is assisted, even allowing deeper muscle groups usually hard to train to be activated. Furthermore, the internal organs receive gentle massages and the metabolism, lymphatic current and cardiovascular system are stimulated.

The exercise program can be adapted to one’s individual needs and goals. Therefore, it is suitable for people of all ages and performance standards and can be applied both for prevention (as workout programme) and therapy (build-up training): Pregnant women, seniors, athletes, singers, actors and persons who suffer from restrictions of motion or afflictions of the spine, knees or hip can benefit from Gyrotonic®.

Particular attention is paid on the enhancement of the spine’s functional capacity as it causes the organs to rejuvenate, become more vital and dynamic over time due to an increase in flexibility and strength. At the same time, strength, coordination and agility are trained.

Since multiple joints are put under minimal, axial stress the range of motions is extended. The body meridians are attended directly to release blocked energies. Flowing movements massage the organs and help to activate physiological processes of the organism.
